Do I need BookVC to use PenPal?
No. PenPal AI is a standalone plan. It does not require BookVC, and BookVC does not require PenPal. Writing, Boards and PDF/EPUB Builds remain free.
What is included in the plan?
Every tier includes both PenPal service classes and Ask, Plan, Write and Draw modes. Standard includes 500 credits a month, about 20–100 actions; Plus includes 1,200 credits, about 50–250 actions. The number of actions depends on how much text each request reads and writes. Both credit and action limits apply. Hosted access remains subject to service availability.
How do credits work?
Each request uses credits based on how much text PenPal reads and writes; repeated context from earlier in a conversation costs less. Before you send, PenPal shows an estimate and asks you to agree, and a request never uses more than you agreed to. If it needs more, PenPal stops and asks first. You need at least 5 credits to send, and you can choose not to be asked for small sends. Every request has a receipt, and your usage history lists each one. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over.
How does annual billing affect my allowance?
Standard is $4 USD / Month, Billed Yearly, or $5 USD / Month, Billed Monthly. Plus is $8 USD / Month, Billed Yearly, or $10 USD / Month, Billed Monthly. The selected tier has the same monthly credits on either cycle. Credits reset monthly; an annual subscription does not provide a year of credits upfront.
Can I supply my own model or provider key?
No. PenPal is an API-only service hosted by Panulat. There is no model download or user-supplied provider key. An internet connection and the appropriate account access are required.
Does PenPal change my writing automatically?
Ask uses read-only project access. Plan helps you develop structured outlines. Write presents proposed edits for review by default, so you can Apply or Skip them. Optional Auto-apply can apply edits when you choose to enable it.
