Interface Overview

A tour of the Panulat workspace, rails, and primary controls.

Top Bar

Project-level actions live across the top of the window.

The dark top bar holds the project title, the view switcher, and quick actions like the Build Book button, the Account button, and the PenPal toggle. The left end of the top bar hosts the window controls.

  • -Project title and the current file tab strip.
  • -Build Book opens the export dialog.
  • -Account opens sign-in, plans, and device management.
  • -Language and settings menus.
Activity Rails and Docks

The left and right rails open the panels you need.

The left rail holds Manuscript, Boards, Assets, Components, and Inspector. The right rail holds PenPal AI, PenPal History, Source Control, and Explorer. Each button toggles its own dock panel beside the rail.

  • -Left rail: Manuscript, Boards, then Assets, Components, and Inspector.
  • -Right rail: PenPal AI, PenPal History, Source Control, and Explorer.
  • -Docks can stay open side by side; widths are remembered per project.
The Canvas

The center of the window is where your files open.

Files open as tabs in the center Canvas. A manuscript page shows a Code Editor and Visual Editor switcher; a board shows the Board Editor; a card opens the Card Editor; a saved PenPal plan opens the Plan Editor.

  • -Code Editor | Visual Editor for manuscript pages.
  • -Board Editor for boards and Card Editor for cards.
  • -Plan Editor for saved PenPal plans.
  • -The Previewer drawer shows a book-like preview of the current page.
